Death Announced of John Allan Bysko Jr. of Lyme; 1997 Graduate of LOL High School, Highly Regarded Member of North Haven FD

LYME, CT – John Allan Bysko, Jr. of Lyme, CT passed away on August 31, 2025. He was born in New London, CT on November 28, 1978 to John and Jane Bysko.

He graduated from Lyme-Old Lyme High School in 1997. He was a member of the National Honor Society, ran cross country, rowed crew and loved spending time with his group of friends skiing, snowboarding, jet skiing and boating.

He became a Junior member of the Old Lyme Fire Department when he was 15 years old, a Senior member in 1997 as well as becoming an Emergency Medical Technician when he was 17. He volunteered and worked for Old Lyme Ambulance for over 20 years.

After high school, John went on to spend one year at the Coast Guard Academy before quickly realizing that wasn’t for him. From there he went to UCONN, getting a degree in Health Care Management from the School of Business and realized that this wasn’t quite what he wanted to do.

He became a Paramedic and worked at the Shoreline Clinic in Westbrook as well as for AMR in New Haven. He enrolled in the Connecticut Fire Academy and graduated in 2011 with class #48 and began his career, his real true calling, with the North Haven Fire Department where he served for 14 years. Someone from his Fire Department family wrote the following: “His sudden death left the firehouse silent in a way no alarm ever could, leaving behind a team that relied on his calm during chaos and his humor during long shifts. Bysko earned trust not just through skill but through kindness. His colleagues described him as someone who brought warmth to the station and steadiness to the field.”

John leaves behind his mother, Jane, his sister, Jennifer, sister, Jillian and brother-in-law Glen Bobowicz as well as his nephews and niece, Brody, Ella, Noah, Elias and Owen. He was predeceased by his father, John A. Bysko, Sr., in October 2024.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 at Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Road, Old Lyme, CT. Burial will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme with a reception to follow at his favorite restaurant, Sapore Pizzeria.

She Was Proud Owner with Her Late Husband of Groton Pizza Palace for Many Years

GROTON—Christina Lampos, 83, of Groton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Sept. 4, 2025. She was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Kastori, a mountain village near Sparta in the state of Laconia, Greece and raised in a traditional farming family. Christina was fiercely proud of her Greek heritage and considered herself “a “true Spartan.” Her experience witnessing the horrors of the Nazi invasion of Greece and the subsequent civil war as a child gave her a lifelong abhorrence of war and formed her progressive political views which she held her entire life. She was especially committed to women’s rights, civil rights and equality.

She married Theofanis “Teddy” Lampos in 1961, and emigrated to the United States. They lived first on the West Side of Norwich, and then in Greeneville before settling in Groton. She became a U.S. citizen in 1968, holding on to her traditional Greek values while simultaneously embracing the American social movements and music of the 60s.

Christina was the proud owner with Teddy of Groton Pizza Palace since 1965, and until her final year came to work daily, first thing in the morning to set up the kitchen, making the salads and her beloved specialties: the tuna and the meatballs.

Christina was also a staunch defender of children with special needs at a time when there were no services, programs, or treatment options apart from institutionalization. She cared for her son Lampros at home, at great personal sacrifice, and advocated for him throughout the 60s and 70s, until advances in medical science and social reforms led to day-treatment programs and the establishment of group homes where those with special needs could receive the care they needed.

She is predeceased by Teddy, her husband of 62 years; and survived by her son James “Jim” and his wife Michaelle Pearson of Old Lyme; and her grandchildren, Phoebe and Theodore “Van” Lampos. She is also survived by her son Lampros Lampos of Waterford; and her nephew Ulysses Sakellarides of Norwich; and numerous family members in Greece. She was dedicated to her family and loved by all. She will be dearly missed.

There will be a private funeral service with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.

Death Announced of Marie Assunta (Salvatore) LoRusso, Mother of Elaine Campbell of Old Lyme

Marie Assunta (Salvatore) LoRusso, age 99, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Watertown. She was the wife of the late Nicholas LoRusso … A lifelong resident of Waterbury, Marie was born on August 15, 1925, to the late Samuel and Nicoletta (Grasso) Salvatore …

She was deeply devoted to her family and was a caretaker of many including her parents, siblings, and later her husband. She was happiest when spending time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her daughter Elaine Campbell and her husband Preston of Old Lyme; her son Michael LoRusso and his wife Janet of Litchfield; and her grandchildren … her great-grandchildren … and her brother John Salvatore and his wife Lucy of Westbrook as well as many nieces and nephews who affectionately regarded her as “Aunt Marie.” …

All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Barbara (Dungan) Ciccaglione, on May 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Barbara was born in Hartford, August 6, 1938, daughter to the late Margery (Graves) and Francis Dungan …

Barbara leaves behind her four children; daughter Donna and son-in-law Dominic Maselli, of Old Lyme, sons, Raymond Ciccaglione, of New Britian, and Frank Ciccaglione, of Newington, daughter Lisa and son-in-law Ken Albert, of Somers; nine loving grandchildren … all who will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind ten great grandchildren; as well as her siblings …

For all that knew Barbara, she was a very private person. To respectfully honor her wishes, a private life tribute will be held at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield for the immediate family …
