OLD LYME— Susan Rivoire Hostnik, longtime resident of Old Lyme, passed away peacefully March 15, 2025. She was 91. Susan was born August 14, 1933, in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles William Rivoire and Dorothy Starr … She is also survived by her five children … She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her husband of 61 years, Dr. William John Hostnik, formerly of Charleroi, Pa., predeceased her …

… She also made history as the first female board member of the Old Lyme Beach Club …

Death Announced of Charles M. Smith, Resident of Old Lyme for More Than 60 Years; Services Scheduled in OL, May 3

OLD LYME—Charles M. Smith passed away peacefully March 16, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born in New London, Feb. 23, 1940.

Charles joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 …

He met Lynn … and married in September of 1963. They moved to Old Lyme where they spent the rest of their lives raising three sons and welcoming many grandchildren …

He leaves behind his children, Charles Smith Jr. (Carolyn) and Timothy Smith (Kimberley); as well as seven grandchildren … He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years Lynn; and his son Thomas.
