Soccer Roundup: Mixed Results for Lyme-Old Lyme Soccer Teams in Busy Week

OLD LYME—Here’s the latest update on the Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys and girls soccer season. 

On Monday, the boys lost in an 8–1 game against The Morgan School in Clinton. 

Colman Curtiss-Reardon scored the lone goal for Old Lyme, with an assist from John Morosky. Goalkeeper Sam Edmed made eight saves and Liam McCormick made seven. 

Morgan’s Emiliano Miranda led the team with three goals. Johnny Gutierrez, Andrew Randi, James Guzman, Dylan Gallardo, and Avery Morello each scored, with assists from Gutierrez and Rocco Passante. Liam Totten recorded one save. 

Also playing Morgan on Monday, the girls’ team suffered a similar defeat in an 8-1 game. 

Addy Morosky scored for Lyme-Old Lyme with an assist from Ava Fuller. Goalkeeper Grace Osborne made three saves. 

Leading Morgan was Mersades Passante, with three goals, and Isabella Santello, with two. Kate Gardner and Emmerson Dunning also scored. 

The boys team on Thursday shut out Cromwell High School 1–0. 

Thomas O’Connor scored for Lyme-Old Lyme. Edmed in goal made 11 saves. Cromwell goalkeeper Matt Kowalski had three saves.

On Friday, the Lyme-Old Lyme girls lost 2–0 to Cromwell at home. 

Cromwell’s Lauren Carta and Taylor Ursin each scored once on assists from Alyssa Bathrick. 

Goalkeeper Alexis Watrick made six saves for Cromwell. Old Lyme’s Grace Osborne made one save. 

The Lyme-Old Lyme girls’ record is  4–8–2 overall. 

Saturday, the Lyme-Old Lyme boys kept Wheeler High School scoreless in a 2–0 game. Ian Maeby scored two goals, assisted by Charlie McEwan. 

Edmed had five saves, while Wheeler’s Luke Dowery made seven. 

The boys are 8–5–1 overall.

Soccer Roundup: Lyme-Old Lyme Teams See Highs and Lows in Recent Games

OLD LYME –The Lyme-Old Lyme boys and girls soccer teams were on opposite ends of a rout in games this week. 

The boys’ team held North Branford scoreless Thursday in a 8–0 Shoreline Conference game. 

Ian Maeby and Menzi Mbele scored twice, with Colman Curtiss-Reardon, Elliot Dunn-Sims, Evan Coffee, and Sam Edmed each contributing goals. Assists came from Curtiss-Reardon, Maeby, Mbele, and Rowan McCormick. 

Goalkeeper Liam McCormick made four saves and North Branford keeper Colby Rodman made eight. 

The Wildcats are now  5–4–1 overall and 4–3–1 in conference play.

Wednesday, the Lyme-Old Lyme girls fell 7–1 to undefeated Bacon Academy. 

Old Lyme’s lone goal came from Adrian Raby on an assist from Avery Spooner. In goal, Grace Osborne made one save and Ivy Wilson made four. 

Bacon Academy saw three goals from Quinn Guntulis, two from Alyssa Blanchette, and one each from Ava Galante and Hannah Ferriglo. Guntulis had one assist. Goalkeeper Gabi Dontri made six saves.

The girls’ record is 4–6–2 in the Shoreline Conference.

Soccer Roundup: Mixed Bag for Lyme-Old Lyme Soccer

OLD LYME — They won, they lost and they tied.

On Friday, Sept. 26, the Old Lyme girls beat Haddam-Killingworth, 3–2, in a home game. Brooke Burgess, Addy Morosky, and Anna Bussman scored. Goalkeeper Reagan Christopher made three saves.

Payton Kaplowitz and Cali Mitchell scored for Haddam-Killingworth and goalkeeper Jordan Belanger made eight saves.

The girls fell 2-1 to Portland High School at home on Monday, Sept. 29. Bussman scored for Old Lyme, with an assist from Vivian Boller. Goalkeeper Grace Osborne recorded two saves.

Portland’s Lea Rivera scored both goals, with goalkeeper Gracie Dering making 12 saves. 

The Lyme-Old Lyme girls’ overall record is 4–5–2. 

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the Lyme-Old Lyme boys were in Portland for a 1-1 draw. Ian Maeby scored with an assist from Elliot Dunn-Sims. For Portland, Evan Piascik scored. 

In goal, Liam McCormick and Sam Edmed combined for eight saves. Portland goalkeeper Ethan Wells made 19 saves. 

The Lyme-Old Lyme boys team is 4–4–1 overall and 3–3–1 in the Shoreline Conference.

Soccer Roundup: Lyme-Old Lyme Teams Struggle Against Valley Regional

OLD LYME —Playing at home on Monday, Sept. 22, the Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys soccer team fell 3-1 to Valley Regional High School. 

Ian Maeby scored for Lyme-Old Lyme off an assist from Colman Curtiss-Reardon. 

Valley Regional’s Keegan Coloquhoun scored two goals and Patrick Finnegan scored one. Varrick Recchia made two assists.

Lyme-Old Lyme goalkeeper Sam Edmed made five saves for Old Lyme, while Valley Regional’s Paul Malaguti was credited with 10 stops.

The Wildcats are now 3-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the Shoreline Conference. 

Playing away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Lyme-Old Lyme’s girls soccer team lost 6–0 to Valley Regional.

Lyme-Old Lyme goalkeeper Grace Osborne made 11 saves. 

Valley Regional saw two goals each from Madelyn Riebold and Makaylah Spencer, in addition to goals by Anne Keck and Payton McIntyre. Goalkeeper Emma Reilly made two saves. 

The girls team is now 3-4-2 overall and 3-4-0 in the Shoreline Conference. 

Lyme-Old Lyme Soccer Roundup: Girls Notch Two Wins, One (Big) Draw; Boys Take One Win, One Loss

OLD LYME— Playing at home Thursday, Sept. 11, the Old Lyme girls defeated Westbrook 3-0. Scoring for the Wildcats were Anna Bussman, who put two goals into the net, and Vivian Boller, who also added two assists to her one goal tally.

Brooke Burgess had an assist while Grace Osborne in the Old Lyme goal made two saves.

Shay Sotiridge in goal for Westbrook made 18 saves.

The girls are now 2-2-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the Shoreline Conference.

Playing away at Hale Ray on Tuesday, Sept. 9, the girls notched a big 4-0 win.

Scoring for the Wildcats were Olivia Lovendale and Anna Bussman with one apiece and Vivian Boller , who put in the other two.

Assists were by Ava Fuller and Natalie Suisman. while Grace Osborne made six saves in the Old Lyme goal.

Kinley Smith made a remarkable 24 saves for the Hale Ray.

Playing away ay East Lyme on Saturday, Sept. 6, the girls pulled off a thrilling 3-3 draw against East Lyme.

Scoring for the Wildcats were Anna Bussman, Brooke Burgess and Vivian Boller with Addy Morosky adding an assist.

Layla Turdo, Kaylee Knapp and Juju Guarraia scored for East Lyme.

Wildcat Boys

Playing at home Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Old Lyme boys defeated Hale Ray 2-1 with Ian Maeby scoring both goals for the ‘Cats. Assists were by Colman Curtis’s-Reardon and Rowan McCormick. 

Marcus Brown scored the lone Hale-Ray goal.

Sam Edmed in goal for Old Lyme made six saves, while Owen Kelly for Hale Ray made 11.

The boys are now 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the Shoreline Conference.

Playing at home on Thursday, Sept. 4, Old Lyme was defeated 5-1 by East Hampton.

The Wildcats goal was scored by Ian Maeby with an assist by Elliot Dunn-Sims.

Sam Edmed made 10 saves for the ‘Cats and Liam Mccormick added one.

Scoring for East Hampton were Colin Marshall and Luke Davidson, both with two and Sebby Woodson making the fifth. Assists were by Colin Marshall and Sebby Woodson. 

Shane Ruggiero made four saves in the East Hampton goal.
