‘Deck the Walls’ Now on View at Lyme Art Association Alongside New ‘Inside Story’ Exhibit: Opening Reception, Nov. 23

OLD LYME–The Lyme Art Association (LAA) celebrates the return of a festive holiday favorite and a new exhibit showcasing the art of interior spaces. 

The Association in a press release said Deck the Walls is back with heartwarming artwork with fun themes, vibrant colors, and playful mediums that remain true to LAA’s representational roots.

Additionally, 3D art by the Society of Connecticut Sculptors will be displayed throughout the gallery, along with a solo show from Faripour Forouhar in the Mile Brook Gallery. 

Live music will be performed on select weekends during the show’s run.

Also on display is LAA’s newest exhibit, Inside Story. The show invites viewers into the quiet drama of interior spaces: the rooms, corners, and thresholds that shape daily living. 

A reception for Inside Story will be held on Sunday, Nov. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m.

All shows are on view Nov. 14 through Jan. 1, 2026.

Pumpkin Day Promises Fun for the Whole Family at Lyme Art Association, Saturday

OLD LYME–Lyme Art Association invites the community to spend Saturday afternoon celebrating the season at Pumpkin Day.

Festivities run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the gallery on 90 Lyme St.

Guests will have the opportunity to paint pumpkins, make seasonal art, get their faces painted and join a scavenger hunt around the gallery. Adding to the air of celebration, The Wandering Fiddlers will provide live music while farm animals from Guilford’s Tripledale Farm entertain visitors of all ages. 

Each child who brings a nonperishable food donation to benefit Shoreline Soup Kitchen will receive a free pumpkin to paint. Additional pumpkins will be available for purchase, or participants may bring their own.

‘New England Landscapes’ and ‘Timeless’ on View in LAA Galleries

OLD LYME—On Friday, Sept. 19, the Lyme Art Association (LAA) unveils separate exhibitions on New England landscapes and the timelessness of art.

A free, opening reception for New England Landscape and Timeless exhibitions will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Association in a press release said New England Landscape is an annual member exhibition honoring the “many moods, colors, and textures that define New England’s natural splendor.”

The exhibit is supported by Ascend Bank in partnership with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.

Timeless, the American Artists Professional League’s juried national member exhibition, will be on view simultaneously in LAA’s Goodman Gallery.

The LAA describes Timeless as a contemporary approach to realism, with artists rendering moments of life through the interplay of light, shadow, and form.

Both exhibitions will run through Nov. 6.

Hours at the 90 Lyme St. gallery are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. Admission is free; contributions are appreciated.

Artists, Prepare Your Easels to Paint ‘Plein Air’; Art Lovers, Help Celebrate

OLD LYME — On Saturday, Sept. 6, “Paint the Town: Plein Air Painting from Dawn to Dusk” celebrates a day of creation and an evening of appreciation at the Lyme Art Association (LAA.)

The event will begin with the LAA’s plein air competition as artists scatter across Lyme, Old Lyme and East Lyme to capture the region’s unique beauty. It will culminate when they bring back their work to the Association for awards, an art show, and reception.

The rain date is  Sunday, Sept. 7. 

All paintings must be made the day of the competition within the borders of the three towns. Prizes include $300 for first place, $200 for second place, $100 for third place, as well as three Awards of Merit and a People’s Choice Award. 

An awards presentation at 5:15 p.m. will follow jurying from 4:30 to 5 p.m. by artist Eileen Eder. A registration fee of $30 includes participation in the plein air competition and tickets for the artist and one guest at the reception. 

Reception and Art Sale

Artists and art lovers will converge at the Lyme Art Association on Sept. 6 for a celebration of ‘plein air’ painting.

The art show and reception, from 5 to 7 p.m., will include an exhibit of the artists’ work, hors d’oeuvres, and live music by Ramblin’ Dan Stevens. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award. All art is available for purchase. 

All are welcome. Reception tickets are $10.
