OLD LYME—Donna Lee Bennett, 68, of Old Lyme, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital with friends and family by her side.

She is survived by her loving husband Matthew Weber and their six fur babies.

Sam met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Cookie) Riggs, while he was still at Colgate. They were married in February, 1957 …

… In 1968, Sam left Reynolds to start his own real estate firm in Old Lyme and Essex, Connecticut. The Strong Agency specialized in high-end properties in the Lower Connecticut River Valley. Sam served as President of the local MLS board and was a trustee of the Lyme Art Academy. He also served as Greens Chairman on the board of Black Hall Club and as a board member of Old Lyme Country Club …

Sam is survived by his wife Cookie, his children, Elizabeth Strong Baker and her husband Larry, Sam IV, his grandchildren … and by six great-grandchildren …

Death Announced of Charles M. Smith, Resident of Old Lyme for More Than 60 Years; Services Scheduled in OL, May 3

OLD LYME—Charles M. Smith passed away peacefully March 16, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born in New London, Feb. 23, 1940.

Charles joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 …

He met Lynn … and married in September of 1963. They moved to Old Lyme where they spent the rest of their lives raising three sons and welcoming many grandchildren …

He leaves behind his children, Charles Smith Jr. (Carolyn) and Timothy Smith (Kimberley); as well as seven grandchildren … He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years Lynn; and his son Thomas.

CHESHIRE – Ann Moriarty, 87, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at her home. She was the wife of the late William J. Moriarty.

Mrs. Moriarty was born February 21, 1938, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Shanahan) Jones … In addition to her time in Cheshire, she lived in a cottage in Old Lyme for 50 years.

She is survived by her sons William J. Moriarty III (Amanda Benner), and Christopher Moriarty (Charlot Rosario); her brother Frederick Jones; her grandchildren …
