Soccer Update: Lyme-Old Lyme Boys Cruise Past St. Paul with Three Goals in State Tourney First Round

Old Lyme defeated St. Paul 3-0 in the first round of the CIAC tournament, which was played yesterday.

Wildcat goals were scored by Anders Silberberg, Gavin Biega, and Luke Celic. Colman Curtiss-Reardon and Silberberg both had assists.

Jonah Lathrop was in goal for Old Lyme and made four saves. Meanwhile, Tyson Raymond goalie for St. Paul with10 saves. 

Old Lyme now meets St. Bernard’s on Wednesday in the second round of the tournament.

OLD LYME/DEEP RIVER — In a thrilling game played away under the lights at Valley Regional High School, Old Lyme came away with a 4-4 draw against Valley Regional.

Wildcats goals were scored by Mason Bussman, Lucas DaSilva (1 assist), Aidan Kerrigan and Anders Silberberg.
Valley goals scored by Michael Kollmer with two along with two assists, Sam Hutchinson, Jake McKenna, who also had an assist.
In goal for Old Lyme were Jonah Lathrop and Oliver Wyman with a combined total of five saves.
In goal for Valley was Kenny Batt, also with five saves.

Old Lyme is now 4-4-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the Shoreline Conference.

Playing at home Tuesday afternoon, the Old Lyme girls pulled out a win over Valley Regional despite being one goal down at half-time. Grace Abderhiden scored off a free kick for Valley with 23.20 left on the clock until the break.

Old Lyme stepped it up in the second half with Callie Bass equalizing after seven minutes, assisted by Monique Lavoie.

The winning goal for the Wildcats came after another seven minutes when Beatrice Hunt put the ball in the back of the net, assisted by senior Alexis Fenton.

Abraham Scores Hole-in-One at Old Lyme Country Club

OLD LYME — On July 18, Michelle Abraham of Old Saybrook, golfing with Beth Sullivan of Old Lyme, scored a Hole in One at the Old Lyme Country Club on Hole #3.

Abraham was using her # 8 iron and a white pin.

The hole is 110 yards.

Both players are members of the Women’s Golf Association.

Old Lyme Soccer: Girls Win, Boys Draw with Portland

OLD LYME — Both Old Lyme soccer teams played at home Thursday and both ended the day undefeated.

The Old Lyme boys tied 1-1 with Liam Celic scoring the only goal for the Wildcats with an assist from David Evers. Cole Bates scored the lone goal for Portland from the penalty spot.

Jonah Lathrop had two saves for the ‘Cats while Eric Medvecky made eight.

The Old Lyme boys are now 3-1-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the Shoreline.

Sydney Goulding, #5, scored the first goal for Old Lyme.

On the adjoining field, the Old Lyme girls pulled off a win to defeat Portland 2-1. Sydney Goulding scored the first goal for the ‘Cats unassisted, but Portland equalized to make the half-time score at 1-1.

Senior Alexis Fenton scored the winning goal for Old Lyme with a header, assisted by Callie Bass.

Calla Gilson (in green), who stepped in for the injured regular goalie Olivia Kelly, made some important saves for Old Lyme.

Boys Soccer: Wildcats Pull Off 3-1 Win Over Haddam-Killingworth

OLD LYME — Playing at home on Friday, Sept. 23, the Old Lyme boys soundly defeated Haddam Killingworth 3-1.
Mason Bussman, Aidan Kerrigan and Luke Celic scored for Old Lyme with assists from Anders Silberberg and Lucas Dasilva.
Ryan Lususa scored unassisted for H-K.
Jonah Lathrop with in the Old Lyme goal and made nine saves while Jack Straka made 12 saves for H-K.
Old Lyme is now 3-0-3 overall and 3-0-2 in the Shoreline Championship.
