Death Announced of Ann Marie Johnson of Old Lyme, ‘Beloved Member of the OL Community’

OLD LYME – Ann Marie Johnson, 92, of Neck Road, went home to the Lord Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. 

Born Aug. 27, 1933, in Springfield, Mass., Ann was the daughter of John and Lucille Davis. She became a beloved member of the Old Lyme community after moving there in 1966, where she was actively involved in numerous town and church activities. Ann also worked for many years in the Tax Office, where her warm personality and kindness ensured she never met a stranger.

Ann is survived by her son, Bonde (Lorena) Johnson of Florida; six grandchildren, … and five great-grandchildren …

A private ceremony will be held at a later date, where Ann will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Hillcrest Cemetery in Springfield, Massachusetts …

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ann’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a local animal shelter-causes that were dear to her heart.

Death Announced of Joseph Thomas Onofrio of Old Lyme, Husband of Carla

OLD LYME — Joseph Thomas D’Onofrio, 79, of Old Lyme Connecticut, left his earthly body on August 27, 2025. Joe was born on July 9, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas and Mary (Rich) D’Onofrio. He was the youngest of their 7 children and was affectionately known as Joey. As a young child his family moved to Gloversville, New York, where he grew up and was a 1966 graduate of Gloversville High School.

Joe is survived by Carla, his wife of 54 years, his son David, his daughter-in-law Leonore, and his 3 grandchildren Elias Orion, Eva Rose and Lucia Calise, all the joys of his life.

Also, Joe is survived by his brother Dominick (Butch), his sisters Regina Falbo (Skip), Adeline Oare and predeceased by his brothers Anthony (Sheila), and Thomas, and sister Maryann Bronk as well as many nieces and nephews …

To honor Joe’s wishes no services will be held at this time.

Death Announced of Linda (McElroy) Savago of Old Lyme, Celebration of Life to be Held in Omaha, Neb.

OLD LYME – Linda Joyce (McElroy) Savago (Lola), formerly of Mystic and Old Lyme, passed away at home with her family in Omaha, NE, on August 23, 2025, at 82. She had shown remarkable strength throughout her year-long fight with cancer, and she maintained her sense of humor, kindness, and compassion right to the end.

Born in New London, CT, to Dorothy Mae Partelow of Hope Valley, RI, and Irving “Patrick” McElroy of Exeter, RI, Linda spent her childhood on Groton’s “town farm,” an almshouse that cared for the town’s poor until it closed in 1952 …

Linda was preceded in death by three husbands-Ronnie Lagrua, Gerald T. Lawlor, and Samuel Savago; two sons-Gerald T. Lawlor III and Brian Patrick Lawlor; and her brothers Wayne and Patrick.

She is survived by her son Andrew Lawlor of Omaha, Nebraska; two nieces … five grandchildren … and four great grandchildren …

A private Celebration of Life will be held later in Omaha.

Dorothy is survived by her three devoted children; Gregory Cahill (Laurel) of Madison, Michael Cahill (Kelley) of Lyme and Cari Sweitzer (Kenneth) of Old Lyme along with eight grandchildren, who she adored … and two great grandchildren …
