Date of Old Lyme’s 2024 Midsummer Festival Announced

OLD LYME — Asked by LymeLine to confirm the date of this year’s Old Lyme Midsummer Festival, Elsbeth Dowd, who is chair of the 2024 Midsummer Festival Committee, responded by email saying, “This year’s Midsummer Festival will be on Saturday, July 27th.”

Dowd is the Executive Director of the Lyme Art Association.

She added in her email, “We will have more info (stet) soon!”

Death Announced of Theodore “Ted” Gordon of Old Lyme; Former Chief Engineer at NASA, Cofounder of ‘The Millennium Project’

OLD LYME—Theodore “Ted” Gordon of Old Lyme, Connecticut formerly from Glastonbury, Connecticut and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away in his home on January 30th. Ted was predeceased by the love of his life of over 65 years, Ann (Jason), who died in 2020. Ted was a role model and mentor to many and was adored by his four children: Katie Gordon (Sam Ventres) of Barrington, RI, Tom Gordon (Carol Mills) of Glastonbury, CT, Lisa Greenspan (David Greenspan) of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Michael Gordon (Constance Fox) of Croton on Hudson, NY, and his 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. …

Ted started his career at McDonnell Douglas and was rapidly promoted to launch control officer at Cape Canaveral, FL for the fledgling NASA space program. He advanced to Chief Engineer where he led a 3,000-person team that developed the Saturn launch vehicle used in the Apollo program …

Most recently, Ted was the cofounder and member of the board of directors for The Millennium Project, a global participatory think tank that connects futurists around the world …

Jennifer is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Peter Eio, and their three children, Tim Eio and his wife Rachel Eio, Christian Eio and his wife Samantha Eio, and Sarah Eio Smithson and her husband Jeffrey. As well as her five grandchildren …

Born on April 4th, 1946, in Slough, England to William and Eileen Penhale. Jenny graduated from Secretarial College and commenced her first position … where she met her husband-to-be, Peter Eio … Jenny and Peter eventually retired to Old Lyme, CT, where they enjoyed spending time with their five grandchildren, tending their English garden, and traveling with family and friends.

… Jenny continued her community involvement in the Hartford area serving as a Board Member for many years at the Hartt School of Music and Suffield Academy and volunteered at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme …
