New Year, New Comments Policy

OLD LYME — We have allowed readers to comment on our articles and Letters to the Editor for more than 20 years and overall it has been a successful vehicle for thoughtful, respectful, and often supportive comments.

Sadly, some of the comments have become increasingly contentious and objectionable. Moreover, when we choose not to publish a comment because it does not comply with our Policy on Comments and/or Letters, we have, on occasions, received offensive emails including personal attacks. But most importantly, these comments have not been consistent with our core mission of being an integral part of the community that we love nor do they add any value to LymeLine’s content.

We are therefore changing our Comments Policy with immediate effect. We are no longer going to offer readers the opportunity to comment on articles or Letters to the Editor in LymeLine.

We will, however, continue to welcome reader’s opinions submitted for consideration in the form of Letters to the Editor . We hope this will provide an ongoing forum for an energetic exchange of views.

As always, we thank you for your continuing support.

Happy New Year! Happy 20th Birthday to Us!

LYME/OLD LYME — We wish all our readers, writers, advertisers and friends a very Happy New Year 2024.

We hope it brings you and yours peace, prosperity, good health and great happiness.

We are proud to announce that we celebrated our 20th year of continuous publication in December 2023—that makes us one of the oldest, exclusively online community newspapers in the country!

We will be publishing our traditional Review of the Year in the coming days but, in the meantime, we would like to  thank you sincerely for your support of our independent, award-winning news venture — we couldn’t do this without you!
