Old Lyme’s Phoebe Griffin Noyes Libary Closed Until Further Notice

The Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library is at 2 Library Lane in Old Lyme.

OLD LYME —  Katie Huffman, Director of the Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library has just announced via an e-communication that “Due to COVID-19 and our concern for the well-being of our patrons and staff, the Library will be closing until further notice as of 5pm on Friday, March 13th.”

She advises, “Staff will continue to answer phone and email inquiries as we are able.  Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is anything we can do to assist you.  Complete contact information can be found here.”
Huffman adds, “In the meantime, we encourage you to make use of the online collections (e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more) found on our website.”

Florence Griswold Museum Closed to Public Until, at Least, March 31

The Florence Griswold Museum will close to the public from Saturday, March 14.

OLD LYME — The Florence Griswold Museum has issued a communication this afternoon stating, “As part of the effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus, we have made the difficult decision to close the Florence Griswold Museum to the public beginning Saturday, March 14 and through at least March 31, 2020, and to cancel all programs during this time.”

The message continues, “We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the Museum soon … but until then, encourage you to visit the Museum’s Artists’ Trail, a half-mile walk around the Museum’s river-front landscape and gardens.

Check the Museum’s website and social media (FacebookInstagram, and Twitter) to stay up-to-date about the Museum’s status and enjoy beautiful images, on-line exhibitions, fun facts, and behind-the-scenes videos.”
The Museum advises that if you should you need a staff member, then call or email them in the normal manner.

Lymes’ Senior Center Cancels All Groups, Programs from Monday

LYME/OLD LYME — All groups, programs, and activities at the Lymes’ Senior Center are canceled starting Monday, March 16, until further notice.

At this time Meals on Wheels and Congregate meals will be served at the Center unless The Estuary (who provides the meals) cancels their services. In addition, the nurse will hold her regular 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday to Friday schedule to address senior needs.

During this time, the Center will continue to coordinate with Lyme and Old Lyme Emergency Management, town officials, Health Departments, etc., and will be in contact with other Senior Centers to determine the best time to go back to “business as usual.”

Coffee’s, Hadlyme Country Markets Implement Changes in Response to COVID-19, Coffee’s Offers Free Delivery Service to LOL Area

LYME/OLD LYME — In light of the current Coronavirus situation, two local stores have changed their practices to help our community. Both emphasize that their overriding concern is to keep everyone safe by minimizing risks during these uncertain times while continuing to value all their customers.

Coffee’s Country Market in Old Lyme will be offering delivery service to anyone in the Old Lyme/Lyme area for no extra charge.

Coffees is also respectfully asking anyone who is not feeling well to send a friend or family member into the store for any of the unwell person’s needs. If you do not have anyone to fill that role, call the store and they may be able to help.

Hadlyme Country Market is at 1 Ferry Rd., Hadlyme.

Hadlyme Country Market in Hadlyme is taking the following measures:

  • Customers will no longer require you to sign our screens with your hand, but will do so for you with your permission.
  • The owners commit to inform customers if they are feeling even the slightest bit under the weather and will expect the same from you in return.
  • If customers feel unwell, call ahead and the Market will be happy to put your order in a box on the porch for you to pick up. The store is there for you and the owners will work with you for all your Market needs.

 

RESCHEDULED — Lyme-Old Lyme Friends of Music Host ‘Great Gatsby Gala’ at LAA Tonight; Benefits Music Scholarships, Programs

The ‘String of Pearls’ Big Band will provide the musical entertainment at the ‘Great Gatsby Gala,’ Friday.

OLD LYME — March 13, 11;20am: We have just heard that this event has been rescheduled, but we do not have any further details yet.  We will update this post as soon as we receive them.

The Friends Of Music of Lyme-Old Lyme Schools invites LymeLine.com readers to join them for an elegant cocktail party in the Roaring 20’s style.

The “Great Gatsby Gala” will take place Friday, March 13, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Lyme Art Association and is sure to be an enjoyable evening, with great food and drinks, plus wonderful entertainment by the perennially popular locally-based ‘Big Band,’ String of Pearls.
