The Lyme-Old Lyme High School boys cross-country team was crowned Shoreline Conference champions this afternoon – the first time the school has claimed the honor for 17 years!  The boys came in first place out of 12 schools combining 84 runners at the meet held at Haddam-Killingworth High School.  At the same location, the girls finished fifth out of 10 schools totaling 70 runners.   Combining both scores, the Wildcats achieved an extraordinary overall first place.

The Wildcats dominated the race with junior Ross Golebiewski coming in third at 16.56.7 – a split-second after second-placed Brian Gendron of Morgan High School who clocked 16.56.2.  Golebiewski was followed across the finish line by senior Stuart Ross in fourth place (17.13.0) while senior Cole McKnight completed the 3,4,5 sequence for the ‘Cats with fifth place at 17.8.8.  Only two runners behind McKnight was senior Jake Watts-St. Germain, who took the seventh spot (17.37.4).  These four runners all deservedly earned Shoreline Conference 1st team honors through their commendable performances.

Jeff Davis and Jack Castonguay, who came in 13th and 20th respectively, both were awarded Shoreline Conference 2nd team honors.

Two Wildcat girls were named to the Shoreline Conference Second team, Jenna Duxbury (17th) and Rachel Vandette (20th).
