Blood Drive Honors Old Lyme Student

Melissa is battling Ewing's sarcoma.

Melissa is battling Ewing’s sarcoma.

A  Blood Drive is being held tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 26, at Christ The King Church from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.  It is dedicated in honor of a very special 10-year-old girl from Old Lyme named Melissa.

Melissa is similar to many other girls and boys of her age — she attends Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School and loves sports, especially soccer and softball.  She skis in Vermont and boogie boards or surfs in Hawaii — she enjoys listening to 1D and watching House of Anubis, and is a big sister to Stephanie.

But there’s one big difference for Melissa – she is currently receiving chemotherapy to battle Ewing’s sarcoma.

The Red Cross is taking appointments for the Drive at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or redcrossblood.org.

Christ The King Church is located at 1 McCurdy Rd., Old Lyme.
