In a stunning night of soccer, the Lyme-Old Lyme High School girls’ and boys’ soccer teams completed a clean sweep of the Shoreline Championship yesterday evening with both teams defeating their Morgan counterparts 4-0.

Marc Vendetti’s boys played first at 5 p.m. and Paul Gleason’s girls followed at 7 p.m. Senior captains for the boys’ team are Alex Bellas, Brett Hartmann, Will Ferguson and Joel Driscoll who join seniors Ethan Fenton, Cam Dean-Frazier, Nate Peduzzi, Cooper St. Germain and Dan Fink.

Paul Gleason, veteran coach of the girl’s soccer team, shares a smile with his senior captains Tori Sims, Kyra Teixeira, Samantha Lee and Silja Forstein after winning the Shoreline Championship last night.
In the girl’s game, Maddie Ouellette sent a corner kick to Kyra Texeira for the first goal after some 14 minutes to end the half 1-0. In the second half, Mya Johnson then assisted Silja Forstein for the second goal and Jenna Peduzzi notched up the assist when Johnson scored the third goal. Then for the final goal, Forstein assisted Peduzzi for fourth goal to secure the championship win.
We send huge congratulations to both teams, their coaches and the team parents. We wish we could have been there to record this piece of Wildcat history (especially as it seems The Day did not feel it warranted sending a photographer!) but sadly family duty across the Atlantic called.
