Last Chance to See ‘Almost, Maine’ at ‘The Kate’ This Afternoon

almost_maine_med-580x444Spend a cozy, winter evening in Almost, Maine, as the Saybrook Stage Company brings to life John Cariani’s romantic play at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, ‘The Kate,’ from Jan. 16 through Jan. 19.  You will find yourself immersed in the charming town of Almost on a clear winter’s night in northern Maine as the brilliant, ribbon-like northern lights dance in the sky.

The Saybrook Stage Company invites you to visit Almost, Maine – a mythical town in the northernmost section of the state – almost in Canada.  The residents of Almost, Maine, will tug at your heart strings as they fall in and out of love in some of the most interesting and hilarious ways.  Love is lost, found and confounded as couples go about their normal lives on this unique Friday evening in the middle of winter.

“Almost, Maine” was developed at the Cape Cod Theatre project in 2002 and premiered at the Portland Stage Company to box office records and critical acclaim.  It opened Off Broadway in 2006 at the Daryl Roth Theatre and was selected in Smith and Kraus’ New Playwrights: Best Play of 2006.  ‘Almost, Maine’ continues to exceed ticket sales projections in almost every professional theater in which it has played.

The Saybrook Stage Company returns once again to ‘The Kate’ in this uplifting, romantic comedy.  This will be their seventh production at ‘The Kate’ – previous plays are “Our Town”, “12 Angry Men”, “The Dining Room”, “You Can’t Take It With You”, “A Piece of My Heart” and, most recently this past July to a sell-out audience, “Enchanted April”.

Come join the Saybrook Stage Company as they bring the Northern Lights of northern Maine alive at ‘The Kate.’
