Hurricanes, floods, disease outbreaks—when a public health emergency strikes in New London County, who will pitch in to help the community bounce back?
If you are interested in helping communities throughout New London County prepare for and recover from natural disasters and disease outbreaks, being a part of flu clinics and practice drills, or assisting with general community health outreach, the Ledge Light Health District Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) needs your help.
The MRC is a group of dedicated volunteers that provides public health emergency response and health outreach within New London County.
Whether you are in the medical field or not, the MRC could use your skills for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to administrative duties, radio operation, interpretation/translation, logistics, etc.
The MRC will be holding several orientations for new volunteers at the Ledge Light Health District office at 216 Broad Street in New London on the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, August 13 from 10 a.m.-noon
- Thursday, August 15 from 4 p.m-6 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 21 from 10 a.m.-noon
