“Now and Forever” by Mare McClellan

The diane birdsall gallery in Old Lyme is hosting a reception this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Ink – Wire – Paper + Clay, a new exhibition featuring three women whose divergent media intersect.

Erica Iman shapes and fires clay to appear ancient and fossilized, Mare McClellan weaves wire and paper into a nucleus of natural order, and Frances Ashforth works with minimal color and bold singular action to pull a one-type large print from under the press.

All three woman approach their art with a highly refined yet boldly raw simplicity.

The gallery is at 16 Lyme Street in Old Lyme.

The exhibition runs through June 23.
