Yesterday may have been a hot, humid day, but nothing was going to quell the enthusiasm of those attending or participating in Lyme’s Annual Independence Day parade. The two young ladies above, Emma (left) and Evelyn of Lyme, waited patiently for the parade as they flanked a sign on the Cove Rd. bridge, ably assisted by a suitably attired little white dog!
The crew of the “Skillet” signaled the start of the parade with two smokey rounds …

… that were quickly answered by the riflemen leading the parade …

Thus the parade began led by Grand Marshal Charlotte Beers, driven by George Willauer in his 1935 Packard.
Children from Camp Claire reached down for candies tossed by folks who had gone by earlier in the parade.

Tuba player Stu Ingersoll of Essex and his fellow musicians are always a welcome addition to this hometown parade.

Six-week-old Madson Block attended his first ever July 4th parade in Lyme with his older sister, Anna, and parents …
… while Jim Noyes attended something well beyond his first ever Lyme July 4th parade!

Jim (left in photo above) and Maitland McNamara (right) rode aboard the WWII-era Army half-track driven by his son Bruce.
The Lyme Fire Company marched proudly past the cheering onlookers …
… and this flag-bedecked tractor and trailer surrounded by the pristine countryside all combined to present another wonderful July 4th parade!
