The Shelter Me Project is a photographic fundraising project started three years ago by Lyme resident Karen Stevenson to help homeless animals. She is currently working with eight different shelters/rescue organizations around the state.
Setevenson photographs animals at the shelters over the year and then combines her favorite images into a delightful calendar, which she sells along with individual prints of the same images — with all proceeds going to the shelters.
The shelters with which she is currently working are Forgotten Felines, Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary, Ray of Light Farm, Greener Pastures Rescue, Pet Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Meriden Humane Society, Beech Brook Farm Equine Rescue, and Hop-A-Long Hollow.
Her 2012 calendars feature a variety of animals from bunnies to goats, and are a steal at only $20 apiece.
