David Rau of the Flo-Bees holds his correct answer high to the delight of his teammates.

Urged on by their own set of cheering supporters, 26 teams from a variety of Lyme and Old Lyme non-profit organizations, town government, schools, sports groups and local businesses battled down to the final question last night to see who would win the coveted Honey Pot Trophy in the first Annual Trivia Bee.

A few out of town teams like the Guilford Geeniuses and Zelmanow Dental from East Lyme also participated.

Lyme-Old Lyme Education Foundation President Michael Kane, dressed appropriately as a beekeeper, entertained the large audience with all kinds of pre-event festivities.

All-Pro Automotive made an early exit …

… but the combined forces of the Lyme and Old Lyme Selectmen gave a commendable performance.

The Center School Intelligencers (CSI) took their task very seriously …

… though the Lye-men (teachers from Lyme-Old Lyme High School) had a lighter approach, but …

… the tension was palpable as evidenced by these young ladies from Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts who were on hand to support their College team, the Art Afficionados.

The dynamic duo of Kane and emcee and question master Kevin Hogan from News Channel 3 made a great team.

Region 18 Superintendent Ian Neviaser was in the audience keeping an eye on things …

… but the Lyme Library Bees’ name still went to their heads!

And the best news of all … unofficial sources say the event raised over $7,000 to benefit the Foundation.
